Shoppers Donate to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

June 9, 2016—Maumee, OH, June 9, 2016 – During the month of May, Walt Churchill’s Market (WCM) collected over $2,100 in donations for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Customers donated at both the Maumee and Perrysburg locations and in return, wrote their name on “drops of love” which were displayed on the windows of the store. WCM began the collection in support of the “Woman of the Year” nominee, Mindi Marshall.

“Most everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, this fundraiser for LLS was just one of the many ways we can fight back. The effort is even sweeter when we can involve more than ourselves. Walt Churchill’s Market wishes to thank all of our loyal shoppers for helping to keep our community strong”, said Brittinee Huntley, Director of Marketing and Communications for Walt Churchill’s Market. “We are excited to see the results of Mindi’s efforts!”

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Each year, in communities across the country, dedicated candidates engage in an exciting competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) "Man & Woman of the Year" titles. Raising funds for LLS blood cancer research the candidates compete in honor of children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. Northwest Ohio raised in honor of The Boy of The Year, James Thomas and in memory of The Girl of the Year Lila Rose.

Every dollar raised counts as one vote and the titles are awarded to the man and woman with the most votes at the end of 10 weeks. Top local fundraisers become eligible to win the national titles. The campaign runs between April and June. This Friday, June 10th, Northwest Ohio’s winners will be named.
